Running Party

Thursday was a rest day from running and Friday I ran five miles with six one-hundred meter sprints towards the end of the run.

My running club had a group run early this morning and we ran near Finish Line Sports store and had a party afterwards with breakfast tacos and lots of yummy desserts. It's a good thing we don't have these parties too often.

One runner won some new running shoes in the prize drawing and everyone got their new running club t-shirts today.

I didn't worry about what my pace was today - I just talked instead. My average pace for this morning's twelve miler was 8:37/mile.

A runner who's training for her first marathon asked me if it gets any easier to run marathons after you've run one. What do you think? I don't really think so. I've only run two, so I'm really not an expert on the topic, but each one is so different and hard in different ways.

My first one was my favorite one and that makes my second one my least favorite, but not only by default. Hopefully, it will always be my worst marathon, but let's not talk about that one...

I hope my third one is going to be great - the best one so far. But that reminds me of something I read recently: in order to prevent depression during the holiday season - expect the worst. That might apply to marathons.

Don't worry - I didn't say all of that when I answered the question. Hopefully, she'll just remember that I'm glad I didn't give up when I was running my second marathon and to put fresh batteries in her MP3 player.
