Protein for a Healthy Diet

Let's talk protein! I came across some articles on protein this week.

One of my favorite stores for deals on groceries is Aldi. Last week, I bought a gallon of milk for $2, a dozen large eggs for $1.19 and avocados for 39 cents each. They have the best price that I've found on kefir, too.

What are your favorite ways to eat and drink your protein?

  1. That baked chicken sounds amazing. I love anything with goat cheese! I haven't been to Aldi, I'm not even sure if there is one near me, but those are great prices!

    1. I have to go to a larger store, too, when I shop there because it's a small store, but it's worth the extra trip.

  2. Cottage cheese and yogurt are my favorite ways to sneak in some extra protein, esp with fresh fruit.

  3. .39 for avocados is Amazing! Our Aldi only sells those by the bag. They end up being about $1 a piece. I like string cheese and peanut butter, not together though. Maybe be that wouldn't be so bad though...haha

    1. Speaking of odd combos, I've heard peanut butter and carrot sticks make a good pair. I haven't tried that yet, though.

  4. If I could find avocados for 0.39 I might actually go back to Aldi's. I hate our Aldi's so we never go anymore.
I love meat - all kinds and have plenty everyday!!!

  5. I love Aldi!! I get great things there. Eggs are by far my favorite way to get protein. I have on every day for breakfast. Peanut butter is another favorite and then good old-fashioned red meat. :)

  6. I'm pretty much an egg and avocado addict. I consider myself to be quite the carnivore, so I get plenty of protein each day. Thank you for sharing the recipes - I am always looking for new things to try (and that chicken and goat cheese looks pretty tempting).

  7. Aldis has the best prices on avocados! My main protein sources tend to be eggs, chicken, a little dairy (usually via cheese), and now and then a Quest bar. I've brought back the chocolate milk run recovery drink too into my weekly mix. I do get quite a bit of plant protein too on a regular basis via spinach. I eat it almost daily! :)

  9. Protein got tough to enjoy when I started eating vegetarian but I've learned to get enough now and finally realize how important it is for
    recovery after endurance events.

  10. Eggs and chicken are my favorite sources of protein. I am jealous you got avocados for 39 cents!! Ours are $1.29 right now, and as much as I love them, I'm not paying that.

  11. I love guacamole, for some reason I didn't realize that was a great source of protein, I love learning new things!
