Our New RV: My Race-mobile!

Friday, my husband and I took our first trip in our new Jayco RV! It was just a short trip to get some experience before we go on a longer trip. Our only other RV experience is from the time we rented an RV to go to Palo Duro, Texas two years ago so there are a few things for us to learn. We didn't have any trouble driving to the Lake Conroe KOA, which is not far from our home and north of the Houston area, while pulling our Jeep.

After making dinner, I baked chocolate chip cookies in the convection oven. They came out great, but there's more I need to learn about the oven. More cookie testing needed!

At the KOA: Texas-sized Chair and a Bike Ride
It was a good first trip. There are still a few things to figure out like the navigation system that kept telling us to turn off at every freeway exit on the drive there, but I'm sure we'll figure it out. Either that, or we'll just keep the volume turned off!

We've already seen a lot of the US, but I can't wait to see more of it and to travel to races and to new bike trails. This is going to be a fun adventure!

    1. It will be great to have plenty of room to bring the kinds of foods I'd like to eat rather than being stuck with only restaurant food.

    1. Sounds like fun! One thing that I'm glad that we did before buying was to rent one to give us an idea of what it would be like to have our own RV.

  7. Wow, Tina! We have been out of the loop for awhile but that looks awesome!!! There's no place like "home" even when on vacation or a race trip. You were already tiny but looks like you are shrinking away sitting in that chair! :-) Any trail races on the horizon???

  10. All I could think was that you will never have to wait in the prerace port-a-potty line again and I am jealous! :)

  11. That looks fun!
I baked a pie with a convection oven and didn't adjust the temp or the bake time. It was almost dehydrated!
You will be traveling to races in style!

    1. I had to quickly scramble up that tall chair before about a hundred little kids ran over to it. I guess I know how to find the best places to climb!

  14. Very exciting! Barry and I have been camping (using a 5th wheel camper) since before we were married. We love camping for races, because we don't have to worry about packing (there's space to throw it all in!) and we can bring the dogs. My one piece of advice for camping: something inevitably always happens. I think I've learned something new on every trip we've taken and we've had at least one minor crisis on each trip. But you learn from them and it's never a trip ruin-er.

  15. Nice RV, the closest I can get my husband to "camp" is to stay in a hotel that's near a lake! :) Enjoy your trips!
